What to Expect
Going to a counseling session for the first time may be unsettling to patients and their loved ones. We’d like to dispel those fears by explaining how our dedicated psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, social workers, dietitians and mental health technicians work together to meet patients’ need with a combination of therapy, health services, and medication if needed.
Below is an overview of how we help individuals manage their symptoms and live a full and productive life.
Comprehensive Health and Psychiatric Evaluation
Each patient’s stay begins with an evaluation of his or her medical history and circumstances. This helps us quickly understand the individual’s situation and develop a treatment plan that can be implemented right away.
Medication Management
Since drug side effects can trigger psychiatric episodes, we assess each patient’s prescription regimen. We look for potential medication interactions and whether there have been issues in complying with doctor’s orders.
Nutrition Assessment
Psychiatric episodes can be triggered by nutritional problems such as vitamin and mineral deficiencies. We therefore screen for dietary habits that may be having a negative impact on mood or behavior.
Pain Assessment
The older we get, the higher our risk of suffering from chronic pain. To ensure patients in our care are as comfortable as possible, we use a verity of methods to evaluate their pain and determine what therapies will work best for them.
Therapeutic Activities
We encourage patients to participate in a variety of therapeutic and engaging activities. These activities can help calm anxiety, as well as reduce symptoms of psychiatric conditions.
Educational Support
Our mental health experts can provide educational support to help patients and their families prevent future psychiatric episodes. Assistance available includes stress management, coping skills, medication usage and health and wellness.
